Remember when I said here that I asked on Twitter for Christmas tags? Well.. an amazing booktuber Amanda @ A Court of Books and Love sent a link to her video on this tag! It’s about cookies so I obviously had to do it. Duh!
This tag was created by Adrienne @ Share, Inspire, Journey, Dream
So, let’s get on with it!
1. The Chocolate Chip Cookie: The cookie that is comforting in any season.
Name an old favourite
The Rainmaker by John Grisham. I read this book years ago and I always reread it.
Another is obviously Harry Potter.
2. Biscotti: The cookie that is tough to bite into but totally worth the effort.
A book that was difficult for you to get into but you’re so glad you stuck through to the end.
Daughter of Smoke and Bone series by Laini Taylor.
As I mentioned in my review here, I started this book some time agoand I stopped. I had to reread it from the beginning again. The first book was quite meh but the remaining two are pretty good.
3. Sugar Cookie: The cookie that comes in all shapes and sizes.
Give a diverse recommendation.
Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. I’ve made a lot of noise about this book. I really love it. Read my review here!
4. Peanut butter Blossoms: The underdog cookie that eventually became a Christmas favourite.
Name a character that slowly but surely grew on you.
This is really hard but I’ll choose Karou from Daughter of Smoke and Bone series by Laini Taylor.
At first, she quite annoyed me (I’m not sure why) then she got better then in the second book, she began slaving after a tyrant but then, she got better again. At the end of the third book in the series, I really liked her.
5. Snickerdoodles: The cookie with the name you can’t say without smiling.
Name a book that made you laugh or smile.
The Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan
6. Fruitcake Cookies: The cake that should NEVER have been made into a cookie.
A book that you could do without.
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi.
I really don’t like this book. It had too much purple prose, too many metaphors, a weird (and not in a good way) style of writing, an annoying main character, a love triangle (the horror!) and a silly villain.
Here’s my full review!!
Wintersong by S Jae-Jones
This book was pretty good at the beginning then it took an awful turn about half way through. The main character, Liesl turned to a sex-starved, annoying person with very little sense, The Goblin King kept on asking her to “give herself to him entire” and that just disgusted me.
I’ve got a mini review here!!
Artemis by Andy Weir
I don’t understand the love this book gets. It did make me realise how much people are blind to racism around them but I won’t get into that yet.
First, the book had a severe info-dumping problem. The amount of science information was overwhelming! I had to skip entire pages because I didn’t understand what was going on. The main character was meant to be a “quirky” person but she just came off as really annoying and then, the book was extremely racist.
African countries were called poor, the main character joked that a Hungarian woman’s name has a serious vowel problem and so many other issues. I DNF’d it of course. Here’s my full review.
7. The Gingerbread House: It’s more than just a cookie, it’s a masterpiece.
The book that has the best writing and/or world building.
Harry Potter by JK Rowling and The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien.
Both amazing writers. I’ve decided that my children’s names are all going to start with ‘J’.
8. Cookies baked especially for Santa
Share a book you plan on reading this holiday season.
Well…right now, I’m reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I intend to read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows next.
9. Cookie Swap
What’s your favourite holiday cookie? (And if you would like, share the recipe or the link to the recipe)
Chocolate Chip cookies!!
10. A glass of milk to wash it all down.
What’s your favourite holiday drink?
Hot chocolate!! As you can see, I’m a big fan of chocolate. Not the bitter (dark) chocolate though. Lol.
I tag anyone interested in doing this!!
***P.S. I need a fifth Christmas tag. If anyone knows a short one I can do, please add a link to the blog post in the comment section. Thank you!***
